El Lissitzky referred to his geometric paintings series – Prouns – as representing the shift from painting to architecture. Within this continuum, this project seeks for a way outside the canvas, to create space.

Proun 4B (1920) is the start point of this proposal. It starts with an analysis of the painting's grid, which is then applied to a cubic layout. Folding back the layout and erasing "leftovers", reveal the reappearance of El Lissitzky's paint strokes. The forms on the canvas become the construction of the new space, and play a new role of defining the relationship between inside and outside.
