Мост на кубах / Bridge on cubes
Bridge on cubes
El Lissitzky was a Russian avant-garde artists of the early twentieth century, which contributed to the development of Suprematism, but from a more constructivist perspective. Technology and a use provision in art are two concepts which could give freedom to people.
However, his theory goes far beyond that. Lissitzky also included a change in the conception of space representation. He believed that monocular perspective limit the perception of infinite space, so he joined the axonometria and neutral optical background in his representations. In front of that, the audience could sense an infinite space, through the parallel lines that follow shafts axonometria or the contrast between a neutral background and figure above.
In the works of El Lissitzky it appears axonometria volumes (usually cuboids). These volumes differ in size, position and color (white, gray, black and red), but they pretend to allow people to see the fourth dimension, the infinite.
The project is located in Novosibirsk. It is a pure cuboids coming up from the Ob River, regarded as the optical background. These volumes, dyed the colors used by El Lissitzky, red, white, gray and black, have a function. The idea is the creation of big center, not only about El Lissitzky, but all the Russian avant-gardes. These buildings have museum exhibitions rooms, studios and housing for artists, halls, snack bar, administrative area and store, among others.
The buildings are connected by a bridge, which in turn connects the two parts of habited zones of Novosibirsk. In brief, it is a complex built to join two parts of the city separated by the river Ob, and to allow people to know Suprematism and Constructivism art.
